I had actually never considered jobs in security before, but I was very desperate and sort of stumbled into it. I saw an ad online, and I couldnt resist. The pay was better than what I was making working at Subway. In my current employment, I was barely pulling minimum wage. With a job in security, I could make much more money. Although there was no job security in this first position, there was the potential to acquire it after a few months of working. I met with the boss of the security company, and he told me that if he liked my work, he would be able to guarantee me a more permanent position. That sounded pretty good.

That job security gig was actually a pretty simple and straightforward affair. Basically, I was window dressing. I was working at DSW, a shoe store, and my job was to stand there and look observant as middle-aged women tried to swipe shoes. It wasnt a very hard job and, although I got some grief from would-be thieves, I didnt mind it too much. It didnt make me want to have a security career, however. You see, in that job I mostly just stood around. That might sound like a sweet deal if you have never done it, but trust me, it is not all it is cracked up to be. After the first five or six hours, not only are your legs tired, but your mind is in this strange daze that seems to last all shift. As a matter of fact, my body was so tired and my brain was so dazed by the time I came home, that I wasnt sure how long I could last in that position. It takes a lot out of you to do nothing for that long.

That is why I started looking into homeland security jobs. I knew that if there was anywhere I would find job security, it was there. The war on terror shows no sign of abating, and I like to think that by doing my job well, I can make at least a little difference. Besides that, working for the government promises great job security. You get benefits, a good union, and many other perks. All in all, it is a sweet deal.

Job Security is a post from: Employment Guide

Job Tests

Employment Opportunities

Brick

Face The Facts

Good Job

High Turnover Rate

Human Resources

Job Aptitude Tests

Job Market

Job Test

Job Testing

Job Tests

Natural Leaders

Personality Conflicts

Personality Tests

Personality Types

Psychological Research

Research Job

Skilled Workers

Tough Job

Unconventional Thinkers

Workforce

Despite the tough job market and the necessity for employees to cling to their jobs, a lot of businesses still have a high turnover rate. Many people in human resources wonder why this it is. Are work conditions unfavorable? Are the competitors offering better pay and benefits? Are there personality conflicts going on around the office? Sometimes, one of these is the reason, but in a surprising number of cases, the problem is that you simply arent hiring the right people. Job tests are becoming more popular than ever nowadays. Psychological research shows that job testing is often more effective as a means of screening potential employees than an interview alone.

When most people think about job tests, they picture job aptitude tests. These tests are meant to measure various skills that are necessary in business. In reality, however, a job test is more complicated than this. Job personality tests are every bit as important, if not more. Lets face the facts: most jobs are not beyond the reach of most people. Whether or not you have experience in a given field, if you are reasonably intelligent you can figure it out as long as you have the will. A good job test, then, should not just measure aptitude, but also personality. A moderately skilled, but extremely driven worker is going to be a greater asset your company than someone who is highly skilled, but not very driven. Job testing will measure both skills and drive to succeed, as well as inform you of possible personality conflicts.

You see, assembling a good workforce means assembling a good team. As we already mentioned, you need skilled workers who have the drive to succeed, but you also need the right personality types. Personality is surprisingly easy to quantify. Job tests will show you who your natural leaders are, which people do better taking orders, which people are more unconventional thinkers, and which ones are good at developing an idea given to them, brick upon brick.

A good office will combine all these types together. When you have many different personality types, you will be able to address the many different problems that your business will come across. Your creative thinkers will be able to come up with bright, new solutions, while your more methodical people will be able to work out the fine details. Specialization is not just a luxury, it is a necessary step to business success. Job tests will help you with it.

Job Tests is a post from: Employment Guide

Employment Opportunities

Employment Opportunities

Doctors And Nurses

Federal Jobs

Food Service Workers

Government Job

Health Care Providers

Highest Paying Jobs

Internet Job Search

Job Fairs

Job Recommendations

Job Search Engines

Job Seekers

Professional Health Care

Prospective Employers

Resume Search

Resume Writing

Summer Job

Teaching Job

Type Location

Usajobs Gov

Veterans Resources

If youre starting a job search, it may be a little overwhelming at first with all the different places you can go to find jobs. If you have made sure there arent any typos on your resume, you may wonder why no one is calling. Sometimes even those who have impressive qualifications cant seem to catch a break. You can post your resume online if you want someone to find you, or you can try to take out a jobs wanted ad to see if anyone bites.

The problem with jobs wanted ads are that they are mostly ignored and seem a little unprofessional. Thats not comforting news for someone who wants to find a job and seems to keep coming up empty handed. I have seen a lot of ads for jobs wanted in my local paper. They are often listed right before the help wanted classifieds, and there are generally one or two there on any given day. Most of these that I have read have not been well written. There is no point in paying for this type of ad if you cannot represent yourself well this way.

If you are thinking of putting up an ad in the jobs wanted section, you should think about how you word your advertisement and what it is you do. If you are a freelance writer or are otherwise self-employed, this might work out for you. However, if you are a banker and taking out a jobs wanted ad, you may end up looking a little desperate. Yes, all job seekers are anxious to get to work, but they sell themselves smartly without seeming too desperate for work. Desperation is never a good look for anyone in any situation. Employers are looking for confident and stable.

Be choosy about placing a jobs wanted ad, and be careful of how you word it. List your qualifications and other pertinent information, but dont drone on and on. Have a contact number or email, and then leave it at that. If you find that you arent getting any response, you might want to consider posting your resume online instead of paying for jobs wanted ads. Many employers do look through online resumes for possible candidates, and that seems to be the way to go. You will remain professional looking if you go this route, and you may find it was the best move you ever made.

Jobs Wanted is a post from: Employment Guide

A Worthwhile Break with Bronx Weekend Employment Opportunities

Employment Opportunities

Co Workers

Food Processing

Freelance Jobs

Home Based Jobs

Journalists

Manpower

Occupations

Own Time

Pajamas

Part Time Jobs

Programmers

Sales Representatives

Sales Territories

Staffs

Subways

Time Workers

Transportation Of Goods

Web Designers

Working At Home

Bronx is mainly residential as numerous apartments lie along the city and streets.
